Dear President Trump,

I’ve been wondering whose idea it was for Ivanka and Jared to be in your administration’s inner circle. Yours? Theirs? Putin’s? Did it just seem to organically develop into a “no brainer” sort of eventuality such that none of you can pinpoint the exact time or place when it was decided? I’m guessing it feels to you like that, but really, I’m guessing Putin was actually behind it. I’ve been going over this issue for a couple of weeks now because it really is so very odd that you have team I/J so in the mix given nepotism and conflict of interest issues and their complete lack of any qualifications to have these roles. My working hypothesis is that Putin (or maybe some other of your dark money masters) decided there would be tons less chance of the three of you ratting each other out because of your family ties and therefore you all would be safer to manipulate and use than if everyone who was in on it were not bound by family loyalties. I guess whoever was behind it wasn’t banking on anyone finding out about Jared’s efforts to get a secret channel set up with the Russians using their equipment and they likely weren’t banking on having both I and J so blatantly using their positions to boost their own brands. And still, even with these gaffes, it probably was a smart move from a self-preservation standpoint to include them rather than having only a bunch of lone wolves who you can bet would negotiate their own immunity in exchange for dirt on you and the rest of the pack.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. Will Ivanka and Jared really stand by you to the bitter end? Will these family ties bind them to you (and to Putin) or will they strangle you all? They are referencing their escape hatch pretty often; reassessing the situation every 6 months to see if they want to return to their New York lives. It’s telling that you all aren’t even past the first 6-month mark and they are already talking this way.
