“Positivity” spell-check fail

Dear President Trump,

Of course I realize that you personally have nothing to do with the set up of this contact page or with the underlying support systems, but it is deeply ironic that the spell check here doesn’t know the word “positivity.” When I noticed this last night I didn’t check, but will now, whether it knows “negativity.” No little red underline dots showed up so yes, yes it does know the word “negativity.” That about sums it up, doesn’t it? Positivity gets the little red underline dots signaling a problem, telling me I’m off somehow in what I’m saying, and negativity doesn’t. Awesome.

Hyper-rational people would say that it’s just a coincidence that the most negative, divisive president in history has a contact page that rejects the word positivity and that may well be true. They would likely think I’m making a mountain out of a molehill, which actually is true. I’ll give them that. But geez. Really? Your contact system doesn’t get how a simple, common word like “positivity” is spelled? It knows much less commonly used words like “divisive,” “mendacious,” “dissembler.” (I didn’t know for sure whether it knew these words until I typed them, but I didn’t have to go hunting for other examples besides these since it knew the first ones that came to mind.)

Even if your contact page not knowing the word “positivity” is a coincidence, it is completely in keeping with the rest of the sad, scary, infuriating state of affairs we have under your presidency (I had to stop myself from writing “leadership” because that would be giving you far too much credit). What is positive and right and good and fair and sustaining and nourishing and healing and comforting and kind is being eroded and is in danger of disappearing in the face of your hateful scare tactics. We can’t let this happen and we can’t let ourselves be co-opted into behaving these ways in response, no matter how dire the situation. Hate will only fuel more hate.

So I send you this loving-kindness blessing that you may eventually come to embrace positivity and compassion (and maybe fix the spell check on this site);

May you be safe.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy and strong.
May your life unfold and intersect peacefully.
